Many thanks to everyone who came to my opening last night! Special thanks to Erica Berkowitz, Paola Duran, and Paul Booth. I think I've shown just about the whole show here. The leaf I added doesn't show up properly in photos and you never get a sense of scale in images on the internet. They can only be a certain size, so going to see them in person is the way to go. Last Rites is so easy to get to in mid town Manhattan. Artwork is hard to see at openings with all the people in the way. It's actually better to walk in and take a look at the show the next day or later. Of course you might not have a chance to buy a piece that catches your eye, but if you want a head start on the show, here you go... PREVIEW "Half Dozen Empty" Oil and leaf on panel 18 x24 not including the frame.
Show push. Wish I could show everything on social media. Nudes are hard to advertise in our society.
Oh the framing. I do the best I can with the tools and space I have. Now I have to promote the shit out of this. Anyone want to buy a painting? These were not organically grown, they have tons of preservatives but no red dye number 5, (sorry art store was out) but they do contain cobalt, titanium, cadmium, lead, mica, gold, wood and zinc. No animals were harmed but a lot of coffee beans needed to be sacrificed. Glutton free. Maybe not, Gluttony is never free. My buddy, CJ, passed away in July. I new him for almost 20 years. I'm still processing it. He was a regular at all the non San Diego shows mostly on the East Coast. His family has always been great and through this whole time continues to be. Since CJ was such a fixture at the shows his family and friends had the first CJ Con. We showed up at the house and there where all his books laid out con style. We got our badges and were directed to the food and the booze and later the live readings and of course the movie room. Definitely not as sad as the funeral. In fact it was pleasant. We all told CJ stories and had good food and enjoyed all the people he inspired that were there. I can only hope I can inspire people even close to that. I guess looking back, CJ was a great success as a person. Not that it needed to be said, the evidence was all around. If you shook hands with CJ you both won. |
