Deadlines were jumping on me like fleas on a smelly hound dog this week. Crazy busy of late. I took a break Sat night to hang out at Kim's, apartment. Kim has been a traveling musician without a home for years. She finally stopped the nomadic life and got an apartment in the East Village here in NYC. And of course now there is much house warming to be done!
Warming up the hand machine to produce the goods and services with art biproducts. Getting back in touch with my Moebius influence. Back when I did comics (now 20 yrs ago!) I came across Moebius' work and totally wrecked my concept of comic art. It was definitely fine art the way he did it. I was drawing Ghost Rider. Not my character, and so I never went beyond what was asked of me. Marvel could inspire some really fantastic art if they actually gave the artists the incentive to stick with them. I had a lot of thoughts on the characters I worked on but it wouldn't have advanced me any farther and then that idea would be theirs to exploit and not mine. Moebius inspired me and made me ready to move past work for hire. His art was beautiful and dealt with more ideas.
And here are some drawings out of my sketch pad.
